Open Spaces

■ Great lawn field: 
 The main open space in Iwamotoyama Park. A lot of people visit the place to admire the beautiful cherry blossoms in spring.

■ Free open space:  Soil ground.  Suitable for outdoor sports.

■ Resting lawn space:  Good place to rest under oak trees.

 

Arboretum

■ The garden of Ume, Japanese apricot: About 400 Ume trees with 44 species blossom from February to March.

■ Forest of Nature Education :
 About 1000 trees with about 80 species are growing wild in the mountains and fields.  Trees that put on autumn colors are also planted.

■ Forest of wild Azaleas: 2,200 wild Azaleas with 37 species are in full bloom from March to May.

■ Forest of Rhododendron: 500 native Rhododendron with 5 species are seen in the area.

■ Forest of Wild Cherry trees:
 Native wild cherry trees including Oshimasakura can be found in the groves of Kunugi and Ryoubu ( oak trees ) inside of Hachimaki Path. 

 

Observation facilities

■ Panorama Observation Platform: Situated on the top of Mt. Iwamoto with panoramic view of 360 degrees around.

■ Jutted observation terrace:You can have a bird’s-eye view of the urban area of Fuji City from here.

■ Children’s Observation Platform:   Children are delighted by the fantastic view from the platform.

 

Other facilities

■Birds Sanctuary: Many wild birds come flying from the River Fujikawa. The sanctuary is founded in order to protect and watch them.

■Kara(Dry)Pond: The pond was set up to adjust the amount of water from raining. It is finished in the style of Japanese landscape, Karesansui.

■Resting places  : 2 arbors, a wisteria trellis, a rest house.

■Lavatories: There are 2 toilets, one ordinary toilet and one in the Japanese traditional sukiya style building.

■Car Park: Available for 311 passenger cars and 6 large-sized cars.


 The Flowering Season

     Wild Azaleas (from March to early May)

     Ume, Japanese apricot (from February to early March)

     Peach (from the middle of March to early April)

     Cherry blossoms (from late March to early April)

     Rhododendron (from the middle of May to the middle of June)

     Hydrangea (from late May to early July)

     Roses (May, October)

     Roubai, Chinese apricot (from late December to late February)

 

This is a precious park for everyone. Please keep the following rules.

■ No harm or destruction on the facilities in the park.

■ No picking of the plants and No catching of wild birds and small animals in the park.

■ Please follow the public morals and don’t bother other people.

■ No riding on vehicles, including bicycles, in the park.

■ Using fire in the park is prohibited

■ Please keep your dogs on the lead while walking, and do not leave the dog’s excrement on the ground.
